Nearly 3,700 participants in Barcelona International Community Day 2021

The fair celebrating the international community living in Barcelona has exceeded expectations, reaching a level of attendance similar to that before the pandemic.

Barcelona International Community Day 2021
26/10/2021 - 10:37 h

This Saturday, 23 October around 3,700 people took part in the 7th edition of Barcelona International Community Day, promoted by Barcelona City Council. This high participation is close to that achieved in the last face-to-face edition, in 2019, when 4,023 people registered, and consolidates it as the benchmark event for the international community from the city.

Under the motto ‘Back to (net)work!’, this edition was marked by the return to the in-person fair format, after the Covid-19 pandemic forced the previous event to be held online. Barcelona International Community Day was a space to welcome and do networking. An easy-going meeting place for foreigners in Barcelona to share experiences and connect with other newcomers and Barcelonans who approached them.

Over the course of the event, 87 different countries were represented, especially from Italy, France, the United Kingdom, Colombia, Paraguay, Russia, Germany, Brazil and India.

The Deputy Mayor for Economy, Work, Competitiveness and Finance, Jaume Collboni, accompanied by the Commissioner for City Promotion, Pau Solanilla, inaugurated the fair. During the institutional event they met with a delegation of consuls and representatives of International Chambers of Commerce from 20 countries. The fifth Deputy Mayor, Albert Batlle, also attended the event.

Tools and solutions to settle down in Barcelona

In this year’s edition, there were 50 activities and 85 speakers from 28 different countries, who explored issues related to personal landing, working and doing business, and enjoying the city.

72 companies and exhibiting entities also participated (16 public institutions, 40 companies, 11 expat associations and clubs, 5 international schools).

The fair has been possible thanks to a collective effort of Barcelona City Council, with the support of 5 sponsoring companies, Banc Sabadell (premium sponsor), Page Personnel, eres Relocation, MAPFRE and Clínica Corachan; and the contribution of La Vanguardia newspaper, as a media partner.
