With only one month to go before the start of La Vuelta a España cycling race, which this year starts in Barcelona with two exciting stages in the last weekend of August, Barcelona is already fully prepared to host this celebration of cycling and has carried out a major communication campaign in the city.

Posters, banners, 3D cut-outs and more are already decorating the city’s streets and creating a lively and exciting atmosphere. The campaign seeks not only to give the public all the details of the event but also to increase the hype and encourage people to participate so that on 26 and 27 August they will pour onto the streets to cheer on the cyclists, reminding them that spectators are integral to the energy of the competition.

The first stage, a time trial for teams through Barcelona city centre, will be held on Saturday, 26 August. The stage, which starts at Moll de la Marina at 7:00 p.m. and finishes at Avinguda Maria Cristina, will provide spectators with an exhilarating 14 km route past the city’s most iconic and celebrated locations, such as Torre Glòries or Passeig de Gràcia. After a 61-year break, the event will mark the return of the competition’s official start in Barcelona – the last one was in 1962.
