Barcelona to host the Mobile World Congress until at least 2030

The agreement was also signed by the vice-president of  the Spanish government, Nadia Calviño, the vice-president of the Catalan government, Jordi Puigneró, representatives from Turisme de Barcelona and Fira Barcelona, plus the City Council, with the Mayor, Ada Colau, and the company GSMA. The ceremony was held at Fira Montjuïc, where the first editions of the Mobile World Congress were held between 2006 and 2011.

This year’s edition features nearly 1,500 exhibiting companies and attracted between 40,000 and 60,000 visitors, with a completely face-to-face format following the editions conditioned by the pandemic. The next congress will be held from 27 February to 3 March 2023.

According to the specialist website Statista, the economic impact of the MWC for the city is over 450 million euros, based on the four editions held before the pandemic.
