Barcelona City Council launches a new employment website using artificial intelligence
The new portal offers an up-to-date catalogue of some 1,700 jobs showing the key skills, labour market data and strategic sectors for Barcelona.

Barcelona City Council, through Barcelona Activa, has launched a new employment website, Barcelona Activa Treball, a pioneering platform designed to be a virtual tool at the service of citizens. Using an AI-based assistant, users’ skills and interests are interpreted so they can be offered jobs that match their profile.
The new portal is an upgrade of the agency’s most viewed website, with more than 730,000 users in 2024 alone, and accounting for 36% of the internet traffic of Barcelona Activa’s entire digital ecosystem.
One of the key new features is the catalogue of more than 1,700 jobs, which includes detailed information on the knowledge and skills required for each post and up-to-date information on the real demand for each profile in Barcelona. This resource also features AI-based guidance tools that enable users to better define their professional objectives, improve their job applications and prepare for job interviews more efficiently.
The platform also offers up-to-date information on strategic sectors, such as life and health sciences, ICT, industry 4.0 and commerce, and facilitates access to specialist training, support services, key skill development pathways and recruitment events, such as jobs fairs or recruitment days.
The home page is divided into three large blocks, based on the professional circumstances of each person and their needs: “I want to find a job, but I don’t know where to start”, “I want to boost my job search” and “I want to access training”. These sections allow for faster, clearer access to all the resources and services that are available, creating a customised experience that responds to a diverse range of circumstances.
With this new tool, Barcelona bolsters its commitment to innovation applied to employment policies and promotes a leading website for jobs in the city, at a key time for technological, demographic and economic changes in the jobs market.
