The sixth edition of the International Talent Monitor is now available. Launched for the first time in 2013, this Barcelona Global initiative collects the opinions and perceptions of Barcelona’s international professional community regarding the city every two years.

The survey aims to detect Barcelona’s strong and weak points as a host city for the purposes of generating and supporting suggestions for improvements. It takes account of aspects such as how easy it is to obtain the necessary administrative documents, the price and availability of housing, the diversity of education, how efficient public transport is, the quality of the health service or public safety, among many other factors.

Who can take part in it and what does it involve?

The initiative is aimed at skilled international professionals, with expertise, experience or connections that generate benefits for society, companies and local industry. This includes researchers, entrepreneurs, investors, university students, artists, athletes and workers at international organisations.

The survey consists of two parts: the first is a 15-minute online questionnaire for collecting opinions on the city and its living conditions. The second involves 8 focus groups organised to collect qualitative data and generate deeper discussions on various relevant issues.

What are the results used for?

The study’s previous conclusions enabled Barcelona Global to detect the needs of foreign-national residents and bring about changes in how the city is run and organised, as well as legislative changes. A few examples of projects that have been successfully implemented are the Barcelona International Welcome Desk, tax improvements for international professionals and enterprises and a study for promoting the creation of an accessible international school.

This edition is aiming to reach over 30,000 professionals. The survey can be taken here.
