The goal of the Barcelona Investment Office is to act as a one-stop-shop for companies wishing to set up in the city and to consolidate a stable, dynamic and agile system for attracting valuable investment.

Companies will get comprehensive support and the office should have an impact in four key decision-making moments:

• Promotion, to introduce the city as an attractive destination for international investment.
• Attraction, to detect and convince companies to invest here.
• Landing, to provide comprehensive support for opening up operations in the city.
• Follow-up, to support the installed company with actions to incentivise reinvestment.

A specialised technical secretary will also be contracted to support the investment attraction department, keeping track of potential moves by companies starting a process of international growth, relocation or creation of a new office or branch.

Over 837 million euros invested in the last 18 months

Taking into account the whole of 2024 and the first half of 2025, the city has attracted investment worth 837 million euros and seen 56 new projects land here, generating over 2,200 jobs. Most are in the tech sector (28%), followed by industry (22%) and distribution, logistics and transport (13%).

In the foreign investment market in Barcelona, 69% of projects last year came from outside the EU, with China the main investor (25%), followed by the UK (16%), the USA (9%) and Germany (9%).
