Acadèmia Blancafort’s outstanding feature is the highest part of the main facade, with its semicircular serrated crown. Sunflowers are the main decorative element.

Cultural heritage
An example of Art Deco that won third prize in Barcelona City Council’s artistic buildings competition in 1912. Notice the sunflowers on the cornice on the façade.
Andreu Audet, an architect from Gràcia, conceived it as an industrial space with a metallic structure to house the Seguí publishing house. It was subsequently converted into the popular El Mundo department stores and it is now the Blancafort Academy.

Observacions
Edifici industrial d'estructura metàl·lica projectat per l'arquitecte gracienc Andreu Audet. Malgrat l'ús industrial, manté una decoració floral al timpà dels arcs de mig punt de les balconeres de la planta pis i un potent coronament d'una gran rigidesa geomètrica la façana més llarga té un frontó elevat de perfil escarser en la línia de Domènech i Estapà i amb clares referències de l'art-déco-.
