Modern Movement

For decades, the Canòdrom was a distinctive venue in the city and, in fact, was the last working greyhound racing stadium in Spain until it closed in 2006. Its architecture already stood out at the time: it was—and remains—an iconic work of the Modern Movement, designed by architect Antoni Bonet.

Technology and participation

Following its closure, the site entered a new phase. In 2010, it came under municipal ownership and, over the following years, was gradually transformed into a public facility. This transformation culminated in 2020, when the Canòdrom became firmly established as the Digital and Democratic Innovation Centre, a space dedicated to technology, participation and collective creativity. Once a venue for competition and entertainment, it is now a centre for knowledge and community.
