How football came from Scotland

Football was introduced to Barcelona by a community of Scottish workers who had come to work in Sant Andreu’s thriving textile industry. In 1899, a group of these workers founded the

Football Club San Andrés, which merged with other local organisations over the years and changed its name several times before becoming today’s Unió Esportiva Sant Andreu. The club has continued to grow ever since and now has two grounds (Narcís Sala and Camp del Centenari), a football school and a thriving youth academy.

Rock spirit

As well as hosting matches for the past 45 years, the Narcís Sala stadium is famous for the landmark concerts held there, particularly during the final two decades of the 20th century. Artists including Mike Oldfield, Roxy Music, The Police, Dire Straits, King Crimson, Scorpions and Deep Purple have all performed there.
