Built in 1904 to house trams, the former Cotxeres de Sants is the most important community centre in the district.

The Centre Cívic Cotxeres de Sants 

The first public area at this community centre was conditioned in 1977, although the centre was not inaugurated until 1984. Between 1981 and 1984, the architect Ricard Perdigo had been responsible for the reconditioning work on the first two buildings of the centre, devoted to the doctor, writer and cultural promoter Jacint Laporta and the director of the Orfeó de Sants, Antoni Pérez i Moya. 

The third building was remodelled in 2008, also by Ricard Perdigó, and bears the name of one of the most outstanding Catalan botanists, born in the Sants neighbourhood, Francesce Masclans i Girvès. Finally, the fourth building, devoted to the Sants architect Modest Feu, initially shared cultural use with use by social services, but from 2001 has been exclusively a social services centre and a centre for the elderly.

Neighbourhood hub for cultural activity

All sorts of things are organised at the Centre Cívic Cotxeres de Sants: concerts, exhibitions, lectures, workshops, outdoor film sessions and much more, plus annual events as popular as the open chess tournament. As with the Centre Cívic Casinet d'Hostafrancs, the management of the Centre Cívic Cotxeres de Sants is tasked to the Secretariat d'Entitats de Sants, Hostafrancs i la Bordeta.
