Designed by Adolf Ruiz Casamitjana, La Rotonda, which housed the Metropolitan Hotel in the first half of the twentieth century, has become a symbol of the Sarrià neighbourhood.

The building beautifies this square top to bottom and is finished off by a tower topped by a dome. The building is clad in ceramic and is minutely decorated by polychrome pieces in its entirety. La Rotonda was built to be the Hotel Metropolitan, which was open until the 1970s. It was one of the most luxurious hotels in the city. It belongs to the generation of hotels that was hubs of cultural life and the the topic of the 'chronicle of salons’ inspired by the gatherings, galas and balls featuring Barcelona's select circles in the early twentieth century.
