A breath of fresh air, the Joan Brossa Foundation was established in 1999 with the aim of raising people's awareness of the enormous amount of work by this Catalan poet and artist.

Spreading a message

The Joan Brossa Foundation was founded a year after the death of the Catalan poet Joan Brossa i Cuervo, in 1999 and initially run by his partner, Pepa Llopis, at the express wish of the artist.

The mission of this foundation located on Carrer Flassaders is to classify, display and disseminate the poetry and multidisciplinary approach taken by Joan Brossa through all kinds of activities. For this reason, as well as exhibitions and recitals, there is an educational service for members of the public interested in understanding the artist’s world.

Cultural links

The foundation is currently run Maria Mestres Quadreny and is actively associated with other cultural institutions in the city, such as the Filmoteca de Catalunya and the Joan Miró Foundation. The author’s library and his personal collection have been available for consultation since 2012 in the MACBA’s Studies and Documents Centre.
