Athletes and walkers

Runners often use the Carretera de les Aigües road for training along, being an ideal location due to its very flat terrain. But there are also plenty of cyclists and walkers who also enjoy the magnificent views over the city of Barcelona. It is a popular green area, far from the bustle and pollution.

An extension programme

The project to extend the Carretera de les Aigües road is currently awaiting approval. It affects the stretch that passes by the Font del Bacallà fountain and will enable uninterrupted connection of the town of Esplugues de Llobregat with Torre Baró. A steel footbridge, four and a half metres wide and 157 metres long, will span Carretera d’Arrabassada. The project also includes improvements to 800 metres of the area prior to the footbridge, to adjust the width to that of the rest of the promenade. The aim is to ensure that walkers and cyclists can move about freely in both directions.
