A sports space encompassing the entire waterfront

The project encompasses the entire coastline and port area, from Port Vell to Port Fòrum, as well as the new Bocana del Port and Olympic Port, and includes the Plataforma Marina and all of Barcelona’s beaches. It includes 17 educational centres and 46 spaces, marine areas and sports facilities, will host more than 40 regulated sporting activities in the water, on the sand and on land, and is intended to become a key venue for dozens of major sporting events in the city. Pavelló Blau forms part of the 2022-2030 Action Plan, which includes strategic projects, priorities and more than 200 specific measures to transform Barcelona’s waterfront. The project seeks to improve and manage sporting activities along the waterfront, while enhancing sustainability, harmonious use and the quality of public spaces. The aim is to establish the waterfront as a leading destination for sport and an open, inclusive space integrated into the city’s everyday life. To ensure that bathers and athletes can share the beaches, Barcelona City Council has introduced measures to regulate sporting activity at these spaces.

During the mid and peak bathing seasons, sporting activities that interfere with the bathing area marked out by buoys are not permitted, and users are advised to stay in the designated areas and comply with the signage and time restrictions.
