Former country house

Initially built as a country house in 1870, it was bought by an executive of the Cros chemical company, who commissioned the architect Rafael Guastavino to renovate the building, turning it into a bourgeois mansion. In later years, its owners made a series of alterations, but its majestic marble staircase and the stained-glass windows have been conserved. It became the Escola Thalita school in 1956, which followed the Montessori teaching method. In 1974, it was renamed as the Escola Orlandai, based on the principles of progressive Catalan schools of that period.

Art, social harmony and social transformation

Casa Orlandai is now a cultural centre. It holds workshops, courses, concerts, exhibitions and all kinds of activities concerned with “art, social harmony and social transformation”.
