The pride of the neighbourhood

Parc de la Guineueta was created in 1971 to equip a fast-growing peripheral neighbourhood with green spaces. Since 1950, Verdun and Guineueta had become the home of most of the people coming from southern Spain and the nearby shanty towns. The park became a vital hub in the area and the local residents’ pride.

Adapted to rugged terrain

Parc de la Guineueta follows the path of an old ravine, which explains its elongated shape and steep slope. It was designed by the architect and landscaper Joaquim Maria Casamor, who designed the space around along parterre with a central pond, on either side of which two parallel pathways run to the main entrance. The square on the upper part is the site of festivals, and several municipal facilities are located just outside the park: a nursery school, a sports centre and a primary school.
