A privileged area
Part of the Eixample’s “Quadrat d’Or” (Golden Square), Casa Vídua Marfà was designed by Manuel Comas i Thos in 1905. The old carriage entrance to “Widow Marfà House” is regarded as one of the finest in that area.
Mix of styles
Listed as a Historicist house, the ground floor has Modernista features, including the stone arches and a majestic carpeted staircase. The facade, on the other hand, is listed as Civil Gothic, because of the lodge and the closed balconies, and the imposts of the rectangular windows.
The upper floor has a striking medieval gallery with semicircular arches and leaded glass. The building’s corners are guarded by two towers with very ostentatious gabled roofs. You can currently visit the building for free, as it houses the Formatic Barna University School of Marketing and Public Relations and the School of Communication, Tourism and Business.
