A very modernista chemist’s

The first thing that catches your eye at this Modernista chemist’s is the door, with three panels made of wood and leaded glass, the top part of which represents an orange tree. The sign, hanging above the door, is made from wrought iron and decorated with a poppy, the ultimate symbol of Modernista chemist’s shops. On the sign, the name of this chemist’s is written in a clearly Modernista style. This is not the only period detail preserved on the facade. There is a beautiful wrought-iron and leaded-glass lamp hanging from the base of the bay window above the shop, where you can read its name: Bolós. It still works. A plaque on the other side of the door points out that this chemist’s was selected for the Cultural Olympics held in Barcelona in 1992, around the Olympic Games.

Allegorical interior

The glass display cabinets inside the shop are still preserved, as are the magnificent mahogany display cabinet with its curved shape, the murals painted on the ceiling with pharmaceutical allegories and the beautiful stained-glass windows, decorated with medicinal herbs and flowers.
